The Science of Looking Good and Feeling Good

Today, I want to share with you why I went into the fitness industry, and how I got started. It’s a little bit of my backstory, a glimpse into how my life and my work evolved into what it is today.

I DIDN’T SEE THAT COMING

The trajectory of my life changed drastically about six years ago, when I sustained a knee injury that ended my athletic career. I could no longer play football or pursue any career as an athlete.

I left that dream behind and went to school, studied hard, started working and joined the real world.

I HATED MY FIRST JOB

I really, really, REALLY hated my first job. It’s not even on my resume. I hated it with a deep passion, so I never mention it to anybody (so don’t even ask).

But that’s not the worst thing that happened… I had stopped exercising.

I STOPPED TAKING CARE OF MYSELF

I couldn’t seem to do much with my body. I had stopped exercising about three years before my hated first job, but I didn’t realize where that road was leading me.

My insecurities began to grow, in areas and in ways I had never experienced before.

I THOUGHT I DIDN’T HAVE TIME

Despite knowing how to take good care of myself, I didn’t. I felt that I didn’t have enough time.

There’s nothing worse than knowing better, and knowing you should be doing better, but feeling incapable of putting it into action.

I CONSTANTLY BEAT MYSELF UP

“Man, I really need to get a handle on this!”

“I have to change this!”

“What the hell is the matter with me?”

“I really have to do better!”

But I just couldn’t get started.

I HAD A RUDE AWAKENING

There came a point when I hit the wall, hard.

This rude awakening came in the form of a photo shoot in which I was invited to take part.

A local gym wanted to take promotional pictures, so they filled up the place with people to look like they were working out. One of the people “working out” was me.

I TOOK A GOOD LOOK

Soon after, they sent copies of the pictures to everybody who had been photographed in the gym.

I looked at the photos and then looked again and again. There’s absolutely no way in hell that could be me!

It was bad! I mean, really, just plain bad.

I WAS GETTING A LITTLE FLUFFY

I had to look at the hard truth; the pictures didn’t lie.

I have got to change this. Now. But I didn’t really know how. But I was going to find out.

That’s what really sparked the fire I needed to get going.

I STUDIED, HARD

I wanted to understand anatomy and physiology. I wanted to understand metabolism, hormones and so much more.

I was meticulous in my study, because I was determined to learn everything I needed to know.

I WAS SINGLE-MINDED

I learned what I needed in order to get back into shape. I learned what I needed in order to feel good and have the confidence to do what I wanted with my life.

And I learned that I wanted to share my knowledge.

I DISCOVERED THIS QUOTE

Along the way, I found this quote. Okay, I admit that I amended it a little bit to fit my own philosophy, but it goes like this:

When you look good, you feel good.

When you feel good, you play good.

If you play good, they pay good.

If they pay good, you are good!

I WAS A CHANGED MAN

This concept totally revolutionized my entire life. I looked it over and over and realized the truth of it.

And I ask you to participate in a little experiment to help you understand the power of this idea. It’s easy.

I WANT YOU TO VISUALIZE…

Just close your eyes. Bear with me, and just close your eyes. This won’t take long.

With your eyes closed, envision yourself in your best outfit. You know the one, it accentuates all your best features. If you’re a woman, you probably did something special with your hair and makeup. If you’re a man, you might have gotten your hair cut.

Now imagine that you’re looking in a mirror, looking at yourself in that outfit. You think, “Wow! Is that really me?” You look fantastic, don’t you? You bet you do. And it feels awfully good.

I’M NOT TALKING ABOUT BEING VAIN

Looking good means respecting yourself.

It means taking care of yourself, and it means doing the things you need to do to be healthy.

This is not vanity, and it’s not narcissism. You don’t need to worry about how you look in front of everybody. It’s about doing what you need to in order to be your best.

I CAN’T SAY THIS STRONGLY ENOUGH

You only get one body. Ever. It’s what you’ve got for the rest of your life. If your body breaks, no amount of money can replace it.

That’s where looking good really starts. When you respect yourself and take care of yourself, you look good. Naturally. Easily.

I LIKE HOW IT FEELS

Looking good makes you feel good. It’s like looking into that imaginary mirror, and realizing how great you look, and experiencing the great feelings that come from liking what you see.

Looking and feeling good generates confidence and self-esteem. It helps you to think better and “do life” better and “play life” better.

“Play relationships” better, “play work” better, and “play” all the areas of your life better.

It literally translates into getting “paid” better. Whether the payment is in the form of money, or fulfillment, or satisfaction, you will feel so much better about your life.

I LOVE TO WATCH THE DOMINO’S FALL

I have the same goal for all of my clients. My singular objective is to help them look their best. Why?

Because that’s the first domino, the one I need to knock over to see the effect race through their entire life. It’s the one that’s going to help them feel good about life.

That’s what I try to do in my business, for each and every client. To sit down, study, research meticulously and plan what is going to help them look their best… because I know what an impact that will have.

I WOULD LOVE TO HELP

If you are reading this and know that you need to be taking better care of yourself but don’t know where to start. Here’s what I want you to do, fill out a program application and book yourself in for a complementary call.

Because now you know my singular objective is to help you look your best. Not out of vanity or ego, but to improve all the areas of your life.

By now, you know the quote:

When you look good, you feel good.

When you feel good, you play good.

If you play good, they pay good.

If they pay good, you are good!
